Meet the First Black President of Panama. 🇵🇦 President Nayeli Robinson de Ávila, age 24, stands as Panama’s first Black female president — a living emblem of strength, grace, and national rebirth.Born in Colón, the heart of Panama’s Afro-Caribbean heritage, Nayeli grew up surrounded by rhythm and resilience — the sound of steel drums, the scent of sea salt, the pride of a people who have carried the nation’s history on their backs. Her parents, both teachers of Afro-Panamanian and West Indian descent, raised her to believe that excellence was not an act of rebellion but an act of survival.
As a child, she faced doubt and dismissal — told she’d never belong in the rooms where power sits. But she fought back with brilliance, discipline, and an unshakable sense of purpose. She graduated from Panama’s top schools, later earning degrees in economics and diplomacy from the University of Panama and the London School of Economics. Fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Garífuna, she quickly became known for her precision, empathy, and her fearless demand for integrity in government. Athletic and self-possessed, Nayeli still trains in track and field, the sport she once represented Panama in as a teenager. Her physical focus mirrors her political discipline — deliberate, strong, unwavering. As president, she has led a crusade to eliminate corruption and to make opportunity accessible to every Panamanian, from the skyscrapers of Panama City to the fishing villages of Bocas del Toro.
