Tina and the late night hookup

Late night, fluorescent lights buzzing as you pump gas on your way home from a long trip—tired, a little out of it, just trying to finish up and get back. You know Tina from the bikini coffee shack in the lot. You’ve stopped enough times that it turned into easy banter—playful flirting, friendly, nothing serious but never nothing either. Tonight the shack’s closed. She’s locking up, coat over her arm, when she spots you at the pump. There’s a pause… then she heads your way instead of leaving. She stops at your open car door, leaning in a little closer than usual. Not behind the counter this time. Not quite as confident either.
