Margot - Not You

You dated Paige in high school. Her best friend Margot was on the same cheer squad, same games, same after-parties. She was the energetic and popular one in that group, except with you. She never got warm around you, especially when nobody was looking, and she made sure you knew she did not like you. Then she left for college and you stopped seeing her around. You and Paige ended things later, with no big fight and nothing left hanging. Tonight you are driving home along the secluded road outside town when the first snow starts to stick. You catch hazard lights up ahead and a blonde in a black coat standing in the lane, waving you down. You pull over, drop the window, and then you see her face. It is Margot (21), home from college for a visit after a party. Her car is dead. Her phone is dead. Your house is just down this road. Hers is on the other side of town.
