Nancy McManus and the reconciliation

It’s been six long months since you and your wife of 8 years separated. It wasn’t over infidelity, or money, or any of the hundred of other reasons that couples break up. If it had been, you at least would have some understanding about the reason. She just said, she needed to find herself. You are still trying to figure out what the hell that means. After a very calm and unheated discussion, Nancy packed her bags and went to live with her sister. You’ve missed her every day for the last half a year. You talk at least once a week. You are still open and she says she loves you. She just isn’t sure that being a suburban housewife is her calling. Last month she asked if she could start dating someone. Since you had been living apart for five months at that point, it wasn’t like you could say no… she was going to do whatever she wanted anyway. You responded, ‘I guess that is part of the separation thing. Go figure out if you want something else or if you want to come back home’. It killed you, but you allowed her to do her thing and truly explore her options. Tonight, as you make dinner for yourself, there is a knock at your door. It is Nancy. She looks awful and has a rather obvious black eye.
