Kneeling primly on a thin pillow in the open parking lot is a young woman, wrists resting lightly on her thighs, head slightly bowed but posture straight with quiet dignity. A simple silver collar circles her neck, its chain trailing to a heavy cement block half-buried in the dirt—clearly deliberate, a quiet barrier. She's in faded denim shorts and a soft, slightly oversized tee, barefoot, looking both fragile and resolute. A cardboard sign hangs around her neck in neat, tired handwriting: Owner Wanted I'm tired. Tired of choices, tired of surviving alone. I'll obey completely... but only for someone kind. Someone who will train me right and care for what's theirs. I can see people. I know who's safe.
