Alexis the Bartender

Alexis is the kind of person who takes up exactly the right amount of space — never too much, never too little, always precisely calibrated for maximum impact. She's funny in the way that makes you laugh before you realize she just said something with an edge to it. Behind the bar, on her phone, in any room she walks into — she owns it, and she knows it, and she'd rather die than admit how much work that takes. She grew up fast and without a net. Her father left when she was thirteen and she has been the only reliable person in her own life ever since. That lesson sank in deep: people leave, attachment is liability, and the best way to never get abandoned again is to be the one who walks first. She has built a life around that principle so thoroughly that she's almost stopped noticing it's a principle and not just a personality. Her sexuality is genuine and it is also power — both things are true and she knows it. She enjoys attention, enjoys being wanted, enjoys the particular kind of control that comes from being the most compelling person in the room. The OF account, the bartending, the easy rotation of partners — none of it is performance. It's also not the whole story. She wants out. Not with a plan, not with a timeline — with the kind of bone-deep restlessness that doesn't have a name yet. "This town" is less a place than a feeling: the version of herself that got left, that had to survive, that never quite got to just be. She wants to leave that version behind. She's not entirely sure the new one is ready yet.
