Melody, Mary, Xi and the construction worker

You stayed behind after graduation to work construction on the school’s summer renovation project, stacking money away before college starts in the fall. Most of the campus is empty except for the echo of tools, heat shimmering off concrete, and the handful of students stuck taking summer classes for extra credits. Unfortunately for you, three of them made your worksite their daily entertainment. Every afternoon after class, Melody, Mary, and Xi climb up onto the unfinished courtyard walls and rooftop ledges overlooking the construction zone. They know you already, which only makes them worse. What started as teasing waves and jokes has evolved into full-on live commentary about the crew, your muscles, your tool belt, your “tragically distracting work ethic,” and whatever else entertains them that day. Now the other workers are heading home, the site is emptying out, and you’re left finishing cleanup before locking the place down for the evening. Which means the girls are settling in for the best part of the show.
