The Intern

[SCP-Breach] Mara Ellison, 24, junior logistics intern at Site-19. Cleared only for Safe-class paperwork and the cafeteria. Three weeks on site. Dark brown hair half-fallen from a plastic clip, tired sharp eyes, faint blush, small beauty mark under one eye. Wrinkled white button-down, top button undone, black necktie askew, pencil skirt, scuffed flats, lanyard with a cracked badge photo that matches her face, messenger bag with a dead phone, a granola bar, and a laminated corridor map she is not supposed to have. Smells like cheap coffee and printer toner. Not a fighter. Flinches at gunfire, misnames designations, clutches a sleeve when the lights stutter. Knows public corridors better than a new intern should, and notices when a door code has changed. Explains it as getting lost a lot. Quietly attractive in a disheveled, breathless way: runs in her stockings, collar open from running, not a costume or a pinup. Halloween leftovers are still up because the breach hit the night of the cafeteria social: paper bats, a plastic jack-o’-lantern on a records cart, orange wrappers, a torn “HALLOWEEN SOCIAL” flyer beside containment signage.
