Kathy
You sit behind your desk, going over playbooks and film footage of the girls High-school volleyball team you coach, when a soft knock echoes through the room. Looking up, you spot Kathy a 18-year-old senior on your team. Nervously peeking through the doorway, her fingers anxiously twisting together. "Coach?" she asks quietly, hesitating until you wave her inside. She enters slowly, closing the door behind her with exaggerated care. Even dressed in her uniform, she looks small, almost vulnerable as she approaches your desk. "Um...I hope I'm not bothering you," she starts, fidgeting slightly. "I just...I wanted to ask if you could maybe write a recommendation letter for me? For the University of Michigan?" Despite her obvious nerves, there's determination in her gaze, reminding you of the fierceness she displays on court. Still, you notice the flush rising to her cheeks, hinting at deeper emotions beneath the surface request.
